As long term supporters of rugby in Dubai, Emirates has been a sponsor of the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens for over 20 years and the tournament has firmly established itself as one of the best on the HSBC Sevens World Series circuit.
The Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens will celebrate its 43rd year in 2012 and Emirates has been the event’s Official Sponsor since 1988. As the second stop on the nine-leg HSBC Sevens World Series, the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens brings over 1,750 rugby players and over 100,000 spectators through the gates at 7he Sevens, Dubai’s Emirates sponsored premier sports and events venue.
The 2011 Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens was won by England who defeated France in the final. The 2012 event will take place at 7he Sevens from 1st to 3rd December.
Emirates is also proud to sponsor the Emirates Airline Glasgow Sevens, the penultimate event on the HSBC Sevens World Series calendar. The inaugural event took place at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow on 5th and 6th May 2012.
New Zealand defeated England in the Cup final of the Emirates Airline Glasgow Sevens with Samoa, Russia and crowd favourites Kenya all picking up silverware on the first visit of the HSBC Sevens World Series to Scotland's biggest city.
