As part of its on-going commitment to corporate social responsibility, Emirates support The Lord’s Taverners cricket team. The Lord’s Taverners charity is an officially accredited UK organisation which raises funds to promote improved sports facilities and greater participation among young people, particularly those with disabilities or special needs.
Every summer Lord’s Taverners host a cricket game against the Fly Emirates XI in the grounds beneath Windsor Castle, one of the royal residencies. The 2011 event, which included a formal dinner and fundraiser, was attended by some illustrious guests including HRH Prince Philip, TV personality Chris Tarrant and Gary Chapman – President of Emirates Group Services and dnata. The visiting Fly Emirates XI team took the game by three wickets and at the same time retained the silver Dhow.
Emirates also support The Lord’s Taverners cricket team’s trip to Dubai where they take on the Fly Emirates XI in the return fixture.
