Disgraced cop Billy Taggart is working as a private eye when he's approached by his old acquaintance Mayor Mayor Hostetler to do him a favour. It turns out that the mayor suspects his wife, Cathleen, of having an affair, and he wants Billy to find out who with. Thinking he's about to make some easy money, Billy accepts, but quickly realises that he's being played as a pawn in a sinister political game.
