|Airport news||Hamburg Airport completed a major development programme in 2009, which included construction of a new terminal, completion of a dedicated S-Bahn suburban rail connection to the city centre, and development of an expanded commercial area.|
|Transfer between terminals||The terminals are linked by the Airport Plaza facility. A free shuttle bus also runs between the terminals and to car park P6.|
|Driving directions||Hamburg Airport is situated between ring roads R2 and R3 on the B433, and is easily accessible and well-signposted from central Hamburg. The A7 Autobahn provides a connection to the airport at exit 23, Schnelsen-Nord.|
|Car rental||Car hire companies at Hamburg Airport include: Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt and Terstappen. Booking counters for these operators are located on the ground floor of Terminal 2.|
|Public transport and taxis||Bus: numerous HVV (tel: (040) 19449; www.hvv.de) bus services run to the city centre and other points around Hamburg (fare: EUR 3). The night bus 606 stops at the main railway station.
Taxi: services to central Hamburg are readily available outside both terminals. The journey time and fare varies according to the time of day, but prices generally start at EUR 25. Official taxis are cream in colour.
Rail: The S-Bahn route S1 (tel: (040) 3918 4385; www.s-bahn-hamburg.de) links Hamburg Airport directly with Hamburg ’ s central station (journey time: 25 minutes; fare: EUR 3). The station is directly in front of the terminals.
|Car parking||Parking at Hamburg Airport is available at six car parks, four of which offer short- and long-term rates close to the terminals; two are further away, cheaper, and are aimed at leisure travellers. Parking can be booked via the airport website, otherwise an 'intelligent' indicator system guides drivers to the nearest suitable available spaces. Valet parking is available (tel: (040) 5131 9363).|
|Information and help desks||Hamburg Airport information desks (tel: (040) 50750) are located in terminals 1 and 2. The Airport Office (tel: (040) 50750), located in the Airport Plaza Arrivals level, provides airport information, travel tickets, event ticket sales, hotel reservations, among other services.|
|Airport Facilities||Money and communications: facilities include a bank, bureau de change and post office, ATMs and paid-for wi-fi.|
Eating and drinking: there are many restaurants, bars and cafés at Hamburg Airport; most are located on levels 0 and 3 of Terminal 2, and on the pier.
Shopping: there is a variety of shops, including duty-free for non-EU travellers, in both terminals.
Luggage: a porter service is available and advance reservations can be made (tel: (040) 5075 2010; firstname.lastname@example.org). Trolleys are available for a small deposit. There is a left-luggage facility (tel: (040) 5075 2923) in the Terminal 2 Arrivals area, while lost property is handled by the Hamburg Airport Office (tel: (040) 5075 1010).
Other facilities: Hamburg Airport has a pharmacy and first aid facilities at the medical centre in Terminal 2.
|Conference and business facilities||The Airport Office (tel: (040) 50750) provides a range of business services, including fax, photocopying and typing. Executive lounges are located on level 2 of Terminal 2. VIP services are also available (tel: (040) 5075 2012). The Airport Conference Centre M ö venpick (tel: (040) 5075 3338), in Terminal 2, offers 14 meeting rooms; the Airport Conference Centre Lilienthalhaus (tel: (040) 5075 2500) also provides seven conference venues, accommodating up to 90 delegates, with audiovisual and other equipment for hire. There is also the large Terminal Tango (tel: (040) 5075 3607) event space in the former Charter Terminal. Many of the airport hotels also offer meeting and conference facilities, notably the Radisson Blu Hamburg Airport (tel: (040) 300 3000; www.radissonblu.com), which is adjacent to the terminal complex and offers 15 meeting rooms.|
|Disabled facilities||Disabled travellers are asked to notify their airline and the airport information desk (tel: (040) 50750) of their needs, prior to travel. Hamburg Airport is accessible to wheelchairs, and disabled toilets are located throughout. Parking spaces for the disabled can be found near the terminals, with disabled parking in the multistorey area located near the exits. A door-to-door transfer service, as well as wheelchair push and provision, is offered by DRK Mediservice (tel: (040) 5075 3353).|
