|Airport news||In a joint venture between the Tanzanian government and China, the airport is to be redeveloped and modernised with a new third terminal, making it East Africa's largest.|
|Transfer between terminals||There are no shuttle services, but taxis are available to ferry passengers between the two terminals. Terminal 1 caters for general aviation and charter services, while Terminal 2 houses international airlines and airlines operating regional and scheduled flights.|
|Driving directions||The airport access road is reached from Nyerere Road (formerly known as Pugu Road), which connects to central Dar es Salaam to the northeast.|
|Car rental||Car hire at Julius Nyerere International Airport is available from Tanzania Rent a Car and Avis (desks are in located the Arrivals area). Alternative rentals can be arranged in town.|
|Public transport and taxis||Bus: City buses are easily accessed from Dar es Salaam Julius Nyerere International Airport, with stops located 500m (600 yards) from the terminal. Services run 24 hours a day and the journey to the centre takes around 40 minutes.|

Taxi: Airport taxis are available for hire to any destination in the city. Travellers are advised to negotiate a price before setting off, as taxis are not metered.
