When do I get Smart Gate access benefits?

Emirates Skywards members no longer need to have a Smart Gate-enabled Emirates Skywards card to use the Smart Gates at Dubai International airport and Abu Dhabi international Airport.

If you’re a UAE resident you can use your UAE ID at the Smart Gates.

If your passport belongs to one of the UAE's visa waiver countries, you can register with an immigration officer upon entering or exiting the country. Once registered, you will be able to use the Smart Gates.

Eligible visa waiver countries/territories are: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Belgium, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong SAR, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, USA and Vatican City. We endeavour to keep this information as up-to-date as possible; however for the definitive list, please contact General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai(Opens an external website in a new tab).

If you still have an Emirates Skywards Smart Gate-enabled card, you can continue to use it at the Smart Gates at Dubai and Abu Dhabi international airports.
