|Airport news||Christchurch International Airport is in the process of completely redeveloping the terminal complex. The entire NZD 195 million (GBP 95 million) terminal project is due for completion by late 2012, but the first stage of development, including a new check-in hall and shopping area, was completed in 2011.|
|Driving directions||From the centre of Christchurch (Cathedral Square), take Colombo Street northbound, and from there Bealey Avenue and Harper Avenue westbound. Turn right onto Fendalton Avenue and continue to Fendalton Road/Memorial Avenue. Christchurch International Airport is located at the end of Memorial Avenue off Drury Road.|
|Car rental||Car hire companies at Christchurch International Airport include: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Thrifty, along with a number of local providers. Car hire offices are located in Domestic and International Arrivals. Backpackers' camper van hire is also available from several operators in the International Terminal.|
|Public transport and taxis||Bus: Metrobus (tel: (03) 366 8855) public bus 29 connects Christchurch International Airport to the city centre (journey time: 30 minutes). Buses 3 and 10 also serve the airport, terminating at Sumner and Cashmere respectively.
Shuttle: shuttle buses can be shared and take travellers to their accommodation. Shuttle stops are available outside the domestic and international areas of the terminal building.
Taxi: Taxis are available to the city centre (journey time: 15-20 minutes; fare: NZD 45 to 65 approximately) from a number of operators, including Corporate Cabs (tel: (03) 379 5888; www.corporatecabs.co.nz), Blue Star (tel: (03) 379 9799) and Green Cabs (tel: 0508 447 336; www.greencabs.co.nz).
|Car parking||There are open-air short and long-term parking spaces, as well as a multi-storey car parking building, next to the terminals.|
|Information and help desks||Travel and information centres are located in the Domestic Terminal and in the International Arrivals lounge. In addition to providing information and bookings for local accommodation, transport and sightseeing tours, airport staff operate a full travel agency service. |Airport Facilities||Money and communications: a full range of ATMs, banking services and bureaux de change are located throughout the terminal building. Fax, photocopying and postal services are available at the left-luggage office. Telephones are situated throughout in both terminals. Internet kiosks and wireless internet access are also available.
Eating and drinking: bars, cafés and restaurants are located throughout the airport.
Shopping: shops, including duty-free, are located in International Arrivals (before customs), the International Departures lounge and the gallery boutiques on the first floor (passengers only); there are also shops in the Domestic Terminal.
Luggage: the Travel & Information centres in the terminals should be contacted for lost and found property (tel: (03) 353 7774). A left-luggage service (tel: (03) 353 7040) is available next to the Travel & Information centre in the Domestic Terminal. Trolleys are available in both terminals.
Other facilities: there is a hairdresser, florist and a pharmacy in the Domestic Terminal. There are children’s play areas on the first floor and in the Domestic Terminal. The visitor centre of New Zealand’s International Antarctic Centre is a 5-minute walk from the terminal buildings.

Airline lounges are situated on the first floor of both terminals.|
|Disabled facilities||Facilities for disabled travellers include lifts, automatic doors, wheelchair accessible toilets and showers, ATM machines with Braille keys, and dedicated parking spaces in all car parks. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.|
|Airport hotels||There are no on-site hotels at Christchurch International Airport, although there is one option just a five-minute walk from the terminals.
