Dubai World Cup (Gr.1)
The world’s richest horse race, carrying prize money totalling US$6 million and attracting the world’s top thoroughbreds, has had Emirates as its title sponsor since 1996. The Dubai World Cup takes place at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse in Dubai.
Melbourne Cup
Emirates is title sponsor of the Melbourne Cup until 2010. The Emirates Melbourne Cup is billed as the race that stops a nation. Three-year-olds and over compete, covering a distance of 3,200 metres. It is generally regarded as the most prestigious "two-mile" handicap in the world. The event is held in November at the Victoria Racing Club on the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne.
Champion Stakes, Newmarket
Since 2003, Emirates has sponsored the Champion Stakes. The “Emirates Airline Champion Stakes” is a Group 1 flat horse race in the UK for thoroughbreds three years old and over, run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs (2,012 metres) at Newmarket's Rowley Mile course in October, yearly.
Yorkshire Cup, York
In a deal that lasts until 2007, Emirates has sponsored the Yorkshire Cup since 2004. The Yorkshire Cup is a Group 2 flat horse race in the UK for thoroughbreds (four-year-olds and above) run over a distance of 1 mile 5 furlongs and 197 yards (2,795 metres) at York Racecourse in May, yearly.
The Singapore Derby
Emirates is title sponsor to the Singapore Derby, a race held at the Singapore Turf Club. The contract lasts until July 2008.
