Emirates has been the Official Airline of the Austrian Open since 2005. The event, held at the Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg, was established in 1990 and was a European Tour event for seven years before joining the Challenge tour in 1997. With an increase in prize money, the event returned to the European Tour in 2006 and the Austrian Open now provides Emirates with a platform to present its high quality services to an international audience.
The 2013 tournament saw Joost Luiten complete his second European Tour victory in style as the Dutchman took the Lyoness Open by two shots.
Luiten shrugged off a shaky start and a one-hour weather delay to card a closing 71 at Diamond Country Club to finish 17 under par and win by two shots from Denmark's Thomas Björn.
Emirates also sponsors the BMW International Open, the DP World Tour Championship, Alstom Open de France, Maybank Malaysian Open, the Irish Open, Ballantine’s Championship, the WGC HSBC Champions, the Hong Kong Open, the Boeing Classic , the Thailand Open, the Emirates Australian Open and the Australian PGA Championship.
