As part of its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, Emirates supports The Lord’s Taverners cricket team. The Lord’s Taverners charity is an officially accredited UK organisation which raises funds to promote improved sports facilities and greater participation among young people, particularly those with disabilities or special needs.
Every summer Lord’s Taverners host a cricket game against the Fly Emirates XI in the grounds beneath Windsor Castle, one of the royal residencies. The 2012 event, which included a formal lunch and fundraiser, was attended by some illustrious guests including former British Prime Minister Sir John Major, TV personality Chris Tarrant and Sir Maurice Flanagan – Executive Vice Chairman of Emirates. The Lord’s Taverners XI took the game by eight wickets and regained the coveted silver Dhow. Emirates also supports The Lord’s Taverners cricket team’s trip to Dubai where they take on the Fly Emirates XI in the return fixture.
