|Airport news||A major expansion of the airport (including a second terminal) is due to be completed in 2016. Some flights are currently being diverted to the Sheikh Saad Terminal, the airport’s hub for private flights, due to overcrowding.|
|Driving directions||Airport Road leads directly southwards from Kuwait City centre to the airport. Alternatively, take the southbound Riyad Road and merge onto King Faisal Motorway. Continue until the sixth ring road and take the signposted airport exit.|
|Car rental||Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Thrifty and Sixt are represented at Kuwait International Airport. Desks for these operators are located in the arrivals area.|
|Public transport and taxis||Bus: Buses to Kuwait City (route 501) depart from outside Arrivals. The journey time is about 30 minutes, and the fare is around KD0.25.|
Taxi: Taxis (tel: 431 9829) are readily available; the taxi desk is located in Arrivals on the ground floor. The fare to the city centre is around KD5-6. It is recommended to agree this in advance with the driver.
|Car parking||Short- and long-term parking, with a capacity of around 2,500 vehicles, is available at Kuwait International Airport. Among the options is a multistorey car park immediately adjacent to the Commercial Centre, and a car park located on street level next to Arrivals. Passengers can reach the departures hall using escalators, travelators and lifts to the first floor of the terminal building. A long-term car park is situated a short distance away from the terminal building. Valet parking is also available.|
|Information and help desks||Airport information desks are located in the arrivals area (tel: 180 ext. 1523) on the ground floor of the terminal building, in the departures area (tel: 180 ext. 1522), and in the transit area.|
|Airport Facilities||Money: There are two banks that also provide currency exchange services.|
Communications: Public telephones are located at various locations and there are two mobile telephone hire outlets. Internet access, fax and photocopying facilities are also available within the terminal.
Food: There is a good choice of restaurants and cafés in the food court after the security area. Numerous options are also available in the Commercial Centre next to the arrivals hall.
Shopping: There are two duty-free shops in the terminal, as well as a wide range of shops in the Commercial Centre adjacent to the terminal building.
Luggage: Reports or enquiries of lost or found items can be made to the lost property office (tel: 2474 4256). An online form for lost items is accessible via the airport’s website.
Other facilities: Other facilities at the airport include a nursery, several prayer areas and a medical centre. A children’s play zone is situated in the departures hall.
|Conference and business facilities||There are two first-class lounges with fax and internet facilities. Internet and business services, as well as secretarial support, courier services and a conference room, are also available from the business centre at the on-site Safir Airport Hotel (tel: 2472 5000; www.safirhotels.com).|
|Disabled facilities||Lifts take passengers from the ground floor to the first floor. Wheelchairs are available on request – passengers requiring any special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel. Reserved car parking is available for disabled passengers.|

Safir Airport Hotel
The Safir Airport Hotel is located within the airport's restricted zone, next to the east part of the runway. It can be reached by courtesy bus, but can only be used by transit passengers. Under Kuwaiti air transport law, passengers facing a wait of more than eight hours for a connecting flight are entitled to free rooms at the hotel, courtesy of the airline.
