In 2011, Emirates signed a sponsorship agreement with the Zain Saudi Professional League, becoming official partner and official airline of the league. The agreement spans three and half years and sees Emirates branding throughout all Zain Saudi Professional League’s stadia.
Established in 1976, the Zain Saudi Professional League is the highest level of competition in Saudi soccer, consisting of 14 teams. The top four teams at the end of each season qualify to the AFC Asian Champions’ League group stage, while fifth and sixth placed teams qualify to the Champions Cup.
Emirates has been a long-term supporter of soccer around the world; its sponsorship of the Zain Saudi Professional League provides the airline with an excellent way of communicating with Saudi soccer fans, as well as generating brand exposure in a key market for the airline.
Emirates now operate to four destinations in Saudi Arabia, including Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, and Al Medinah al Munawarah, and utilizes its sponsorship of the Zain Saudi Professional League to further promote its operations in the country while ensuring the league goes from strength to strength.
Emirates’ impressive soccer sponsorship portfolio also includes a number of high-profile teams and events, including FIFA, Asian Football Confederation, Arsenal FC, AC Milan, Hamburger SV, Real Madrid, Olympiacos FC, Arsenal Soccer Schools Dubai, The Emirates Cup, and Zain Saudi Professional League.
