What to do in Copenhagen

Stroll the Strøget

Strøget is the collective name for one of Europe's longest pedestrian streets, packed with wonderful shops. It also offers plenty of diversions away from ringing tills, such as Helligåndskirken, where Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were married, the courthouse at Nytorv Square and the Stork Fountain (Storkespringvandet) at Amargertov Square.

The National Museum of Denmark

Just off the Strøget is Denmark’s largest museum of cultural history, set in an 18th century classical mansion. Don’t be put off by the intimidating building though, as the National Museum of Denmark is a brilliant centre for understanding the Danes from their early history right through to the present day.
