Disruption at Dubai International Airport due to fog

Severe fog in Dubai on 3 December 2016 has caused the cancellation and delay of numerous Emirates flights arriving and departing at Dubai International Airport. 

Emirates urges customers to check their flight status for the latest information regarding their flights

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Phone Advisory
In light of advisories from various aviation regulatory bodies and concerns raised by Samsung about its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones, passengers are advised that these devices are prohibited on all Emirates flights. Passengers are requested not to bring them on board Emirates' flights in person, as well as in carry-on or checked-in baggage.

Tickets Issued with Zero Fare in Brazil

On 16 June 2016, a technical error occurred where a number of Emirates tickets for certain flights originating in Brazil were shown as available for purchase online with a zero value fare. This error lasted for approximately three hours. During this time, these tickets showed a purchase value equal only to the taxes applicable to the flights, with no actual fare component shown. Due to the clear nature of the technical error, any tickets issued in error during this time were automatically cancelled and all charges have been refunded.

Emirates has contacted all affected passengers who purchased tickets online through Emirates’ website as well as affected travel agents who have issued tickets, to assist in rebooking flights at the appropriate available fare.

Emirates apologises for the inconvenience this has caused the affected customers. Emirates fares are competitively priced and we remain committed to providing our customers with excellent service and a strong value-for-money proposition.

Baggage policy for Africa

For tickets issued on or after 15 April 2016
For itineraries commencing in any destination in Africa, the piece concept applies. Customers beginning their journey in Africa are allowed two bags of up to 23kg each in Economy Class, and two bags of up to 32kg each in First Class or Business Class. This will apply regardless of the country in which the ticket was purchased. If the free baggage allowance is exceeded, normal excess charges apply.

For tickets issued before 15 April 2016
The baggage allowance for passengers with tickets issued before this date on journeys originating in Africa will continue to be based on the weight concept. This applies regardless of the date of travel. If the free baggage allowance is exceeded, normal excess charges apply.

Changes to terminals in Jeddah (JED) on Extra Flights

The following change in terminal for Extra flights has been made in Jeddah. Please follow this guide to ensure you are arriving or departing from the correct terminal when travelling:

For Extra Flights UMRAH (2000 Series):

  • Customers holding UMRAH visa – use the Hajj Terminal
  • GCC Nationals excluding Saudi National – use the North Terminal
  • Saudi Residence Permit / Business / Visit Visa Holders and Saudi Nationals - not permitted

Extra Flights Non-UMRAH (3000 Series):

  • Customers holding UMRAH visa – not permitted
  • GCC Nationals excluding Saudi National – use the North Terminal (including Saudi National)
  • Saudi Residence Permit / Business / Visit Visa Holders – use the North terminal
  • Saudi Nationals – use the North Terminal

Starting from 8 May 2016, customers travelling to perform Umrah on flights into Jeddah with a flight number starting with 8 will need to depart and arrive from the Haj terminal at Jeddah airport.
