As part of its on-going commitment to corporate social responsibility, Emirates supports The Lord’s Taverners cricket team. The Lord’s Taverners charity is an officially accredited UK organisation which raises funds to promote improved sports facilities and greater participation among young people, particularly those with disabilities or special needs.
Every summer, The Lord’s Taverners host a game against a Fly Emirates XI in the spectacular grounds beneath Windsor Castle, one of Britain’s royal residencies. In 2012, Emirates was delighted to welcome former UK Primer Minister and ardent cricket fan, The Rt Hon Sir John Major KG CH as guest of honour, and despite poor weather, the two teams put on a display of exciting cricket.
The Lord’s Taverners, featuring England stars Steven Davies and Gareth Batty, stormed to an eight wicket victory to ensure the Silver Show remains in the Taverners possession until at least March 2013 when the two teams lock horns under sunny skies in Dubai.
Emirates’ cricket sponsorship portfolio also includes the International Cricket Council (ICC), the ICC’s Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Match Referees and Durham County Cricket Club.
