Emirates and Thailand Open Sponsorships

The Thailand Open, founded in 1965, was previously sanctioned by the Asian Tour before it became a OneAsia Tour event in 2010. The OneAsia Tour event is a joint venture between the PGA Tour of Australasia, the China Golf Association, the Japan Golf Tour, the Korean Golf Association and the Korean PGA.

The Thailand Open is an annual event held in early to mid-August and is competed for at the Suwan Golf and Country Club, Bangkok. With a prize fund of USD 1 million, the Thailand Open attracts a truly global field whilst maintaining a strong South East Asia presence. The 2012 title was taken by South Korean Kim Bi-o who registered an impressive score of 18 under par.

Emirates, who is an official partner of the Thailand Open, use the Bangkok-based tournament to connect with present and potential customers whilst also profiling the Bangkok route which is currently operated by the Emirates Airbus A380, the airline’s flagship carrier, and the Boeing 777.
