The Australian PGA Championship is the second golf event Emirates are involved with in the country.  Where the Emirates Australian Open is played in New South Wales, the Australian PGA Championship is held on the fairways of the Hyatt Regency in Coolum, Queensland.

The Championship is historically played in late November or early December and the assembled field compete for AUD $1.5 million.  The winner of the annual Australian PGA Championship receives the Joe Kirkwood Cup, named after Australian golfer Joe Kirkwood Sr.

The Australian PGA Championship is Australia’s oldest professional tournament, dating back to 1904, and can boast an impressive list of past champions including Gary Player, Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman, Robert Allenby, Geoff Ogilvy and Peter Lonard.

Sydney born golfer Greg Chalmers took the 2011 Australian PGA Championship and at the same time completed an Australian Major double after a fortnight earlier winning The Emirates Australian Open.

Emirates also sponsors The Ryder Cup, UBS Hong Kong Open, Dubai World Championship, BMW International Open 2012, Japan Open, WGC-HSBC Champions, Emirates Australian Open Championship, Austrian Golf Open, Avantha Masters, Ballantine’s Championship, Barclays Singapore Open, Maybank Malaysian Open, Thailand Open and Alstom Open de France.
